Verbier by Minibus, from the Valley to the Slopes
Verbier sits on a sunny shelf above the Val de Bagnes, with Le Châble and its gondola in the valley below. For a ski week or a festival trip, a minibus with a driver takes care of the long road from the airport and the climb from the valley.
Le Châble or the resort?
The tourist board advises day visitors to leave vehicles down in Le Châble and go up by gondola to Médran. It operates every day, from early in the morning until almost midnight. The Curala car park by the station has 731 spaces, with a 2.10 m height limit on P4, so a tall vehicle uses the other areas.
Up in Verbier the commune names four car parks (the covered Marais Verts, Périn, Catogne and Ermitage), and vehicles can drop off briefly at Médran. No official coach park or set-down rule was found, so the operator settles where the minibus stops before you arrive.

Ski weeks with all the kit
Geneva Airport is about 161 km away, around 2.5 hours in light traffic, and Bern Airport about 2.75 hours. A minibus takes skis, boots and cases for the whole group in one go.
The 4 Vallées ski area opens in November and runs until late April, with around 410 km of pistes and Mont-Fort, at 3,330 m, as its high point. On winter weekends the Verbier Express train runs from Geneva to Le Châble, useful for friends who arrive later.

Festival evenings and summer days
Concerts fill the 1,407-seat Salle des Combins during the Verbier Festival, 14 July to 1 August 2027. Public parking at Périn shuts for the whole festival, so a driver who drops you at the door is handy.
In Martigny, about 40 minutes away, the Fondation Pierre Gianadda offers guided tours for groups of 15 or more, and Barryland has the St Bernard dogs. The hospice on the Grand-Saint-Bernard pass opens only in summer, when the road is clear.
Across to France and the lake
Chamonix, in France, is about 1.5 hours away by the Forclaz road, which stays open in winter. Chillon castle takes about 1.25 hours, Glacier 3000's base at the Pillon about 1.75, and Gruyères about 2.
Questions travellers ask
Is Sion Airport an option?
It is only about an hour away, but its only scheduled route has been a seasonal summer one, so in winter it handles business and charter flights.
When is Xtreme Verbier?
The Freeride World Tour final on the Bec des Rosses is held at the end of March. The 2027 date has not been published yet.
Can we stay in Martigny instead?
Yes. Martigny is a good base for larger groups, about 40 minutes from Verbier, and the minibus shuttles you up each day.
