Engelberg and Titlis with a Minibus and Driver
Engelberg sits at the head of a quiet valley below Titlis, under an hour from Luzern. It is an easy place for a small group: one road in, a glacier above the village, and Lake Lucerne close enough for the same day.
Arriving for Titlis
The Titlis cableways meet groups at Car Park 1, right at the valley station on the Gerschnistrasse, five minutes' drive from the village; local staff there help you on your way. Three car parks lie beside the valley station.
Book group tickets and lunch ahead with the Titlis group booking form. The Cliff Walk and the Glacier Cave come with the return ticket; the new Horizon Deck on the Titlis Tower needs its own ticket and admits a maximum of 250 visitors at once. Late morning is the cableway's busiest time, so an early start pays off.

Village, abbey and the sunny side
Book ahead to join a public tour of the Benedictine abbey (Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday); a party of 15 or more may book a private group tour instead. Across the valley, the Brunni cable car and chairlift lead to the Härzlisee, a gentle outing for families.
No public coach park was found in the village centre, so your operator confirms where the vehicle waits while you explore.

The road up the valley
Engelberg is reached only from the A2 motorway at the Stans-Süd exit, then about 20 km of valley road that stays open all year. From Zurich Airport it is about 1.75 hours, from Basel's EuroAirport about 2.25. The Kursaal, for about 420 seated, suits a small wedding or a club dinner.
Titlis in the morning, the lake after lunch
Alpnachstad, for the Pilatus cogwheel railway, is about 40 minutes away, as is the Stanserhorn above Stans. Luzern is about 50 minutes. Board a lake steamer at Stansstad, Buochs or Beckenried, sail for an afternoon and find the minibus waiting at the pier.
Vitznau for the Rigi railway and Andermatt are about 1.5 hours each; Einsiedeln and its abbey about 1.75.
Questions travellers ask
Is the valley road open in winter?
It is open all year. Winter tyres are recommended rather than required in Switzerland, and chains are compulsory only where the sign says so.
When does the ski-jumping World Cup come to Engelberg?
The Gross-Titlis-Schanze hosts it on 18, 19 and 20 December 2026, and your event ticket also covers public transport from Luzern.
Can we do Titlis and Luzern in one day?
Yes. Start early on the mountain, then drive about 50 minutes to Luzern for the afternoon.
