Company days out and congress weeks, one minibus at a time
Not every company trip needs a 50-seat coach. A team of fourteen heading for a strategy day above Lake Lucerne, a board moving between hotel and congress hall, a handful of client guests at a trade fair: a minibus with a driver suits days like these, and two or three of them can move a bigger team in step.
Congress venues and where your vehicle pulls in
Every venue has its own habits. Palexpo in Geneva is a ten-minute walk from the airport and its station; ask the organisers to open a drop-off zone at an entrance for you. Its car park, P12, takes no reservations and has 2 m of headroom, so your vehicle sets down at the door and waits elsewhere.
The Kongresshaus in Zurich stands by the lake near Zürich HB. The Congress Center Basel, part of Messe Basel, is the largest in Switzerland, with a plenary hall for up to 3,000 people. For these and the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, the operator agrees the stopping point with the venue.

Davos in January
Davos tourism lists the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting for 18 to 22 January 2027 at the Congress Centre, which has 34 rooms for up to 5,000 people. Public parking around the meeting is very limited and the resort advises public transport. If your team needs road transport that week, ask early and let the operator settle where your vehicle may stop.
Worth knowing before the day
- The CGN boats on Lake Geneva leave from the Genève Mont-Blanc and Jardin Anglais piers, about 5-6 km by road from Genève Aéroport
- The SwissTech Convention Center at EPFL in Lausanne is on metro line M1, about 12 minutes from Lausanne Flon; Genève Aéroport is about 45 minutes away by car or train
- Passenger vehicles are exempt from the Swiss Sunday and night driving ban (Art. 91a Abs. 1 Bst. a VRV), so coaches can run late-evening and Sunday shuttles
Late dinners and Sunday flights
Switzerland's night and Sunday driving bans are aimed at lorries; vehicles carrying passengers are exempt. A ride back from a lakeside dinner at midnight, or an airport run early on Sunday, is therefore allowed.
What shapes a long day is the driver. A coach driver may drive at most 9 hours a day, 10 hours on two days a week, and must stop for 45 minutes once 4.5 hours of driving are done. Send the whole programme, from first pickup to last drop-off, and the operator plans drivers and breaks around it.
Questions travellers ask
Can one booking cover several minibuses?
Yes. Give the total headcount and the timings, and the operator proposes a mix: two minibuses for a team of 28, say, or a single midi-coach if everyone moves together.
Can a car with driver join for the speakers or the board?
Yes. Up to eight passengers travel in a car with driver rather than a bus, which suits a few guests who arrive on their own schedule.
What should we send for a quote?
Dates, headcount, every address with its time, luggage, and whether the group stays together all day. If a venue has to approve the stop, add the name of your contact there.
