Getting your wedding guests there, and home again
A Swiss wedding often has more moving parts than the guests expect: a civil ceremony, perhaps a church, photos by the lake, then dinner up a vineyard road. A minibus or two with drivers takes care of the guests, and a car with a chauffeur brings the couple.
Two ceremonies, two transfers
In Switzerland the civil ceremony comes first, and a religious wedding may not take place before it. Many couples therefore have two ceremonies, sometimes on different days, and need transport for both. You may marry in the civil registry district of your choice, so the register office can be near your venue rather than your home.
Send both addresses and times. The operator plans a loop that collects guests from their hotels, waits through the ceremony and carries everyone on to the next place.

Vineyards, lakes and small roads
Lavaux, above Lake Geneva, is a favourite. Its roads are narrow and often one-way through the villages, parking is scarce and winegrowers have priority. No official coach parking was found in Cully, Chexbres or Rivaz. A minibus copes better than a coach here, and the operator confirms where it can stop.
By Lake Lucerne, in Lugano or in Gstaad the same logic holds: the smaller the vehicle, the more likely it can stop close to the door.
Worth knowing before the day
- Couples may marry in the civil registry district of their choice (Art. 97 Abs. 2 ZGB)
- Where seat belts are fitted, every passenger must wear them (Art. 3a Abs. 1 VRV)
The car for the couple
A car with chauffeur carries up to eight passengers; anything bigger counts as a bus. Its driver holds the permit for carrying passengers professionally, or a bus licence. The couple, the parents or the witnesses can ride together, and the car can wait while photos are taken.
Late shuttles are fine, because the night driving ban does not cover passenger vehicles. Agree the last departure in advance so no guest is left at the party.
Questions travellers ask
How many shuttle runs do we need?
It depends on the guest list, the hotels and the distances. Send all three, and the operator works out whether one minibus doing loops is enough or a second vehicle saves waiting.
Must guests buckle up, even in their finery?
Yes. Every seat with a belt means a belt worn, wedding outfit or not.
When should we book?
As soon as the date and venue are fixed. Final guest numbers can follow later.

Send the date, the ceremony and reception addresses, the hotels and a rough guest count. A licensed partner operator provides the minibuses and the couple's car, each with its driver.
