Minibus Services Across Switzerland

Away days for clubs, squads and supporters

An under-14 tournament in Bern, an ice-hockey trip to Davos, a ski club at the Lauberhorn races: club travel tends to come in small numbers with a lot of kit. A minibus with a driver keeps the squad together and lets the trainer think about the match, not the motorway exit.

Size the vehicle for players and kit

A minibus carries 9 to 16 passengers, and its rear luggage space shrinks fast when every seat is full. Hockey bags, skis or a net of balls change the sums. For a squad of 18 plus staff and kit, two minibuses or a midi-coach are usually more comfortable than one packed vehicle.

Drivers hold the licence that matches the vehicle: category D1 for a minibus of up to 16 passenger seats, category D for anything larger, plus the CZV certificate for professional drivers. The operator pairs driver and vehicle; you only need to give the numbers.

Arriving at the ground

Clubs set their own rules. HC Davos asks coaches and minibuses carrying fans to sign up through its online form no later than 48 hours before the game. Bern's Stadion Wankdorf publishes no coach parking for visiting groups, and match tickets include public transport in the city zones, so some groups set down and let fans continue by tram. At the AIL Arena in Lugano, the club says parking near the stadium is limited.

Where a ground publishes nothing, the operator confirms the stop before the day.

Worth knowing before the day

  • Professional coach and minibus drivers (category D or D1) need the CZV certificate of professional competence for passenger transport (Art. 2 Abs. 1 CZV)
  • The International Lauberhorn Races in Wengen are on 15-17 January 2027; Wengen is car-free, so teams and fans continue by train from Lauterbrunnen or by cableway from Grindelwald Terminal

Lauberhorn weekend

The Lauberhorn races take place in Wengen on 15–17 January 2027. As no road leads into the village, your minibus takes you to Lauterbrunnen for the train, or to Grindelwald Terminal for the cableway over Männlichen. Trains and valley car parks are very busy on race days, so build in time.

Questions travellers ask

Does a minibus need a motorway vignette?

A minibus up to 3.5 t uses the vignette; heavier minibuses and coaches pay the flat-rate heavy vehicle fee (PSVA) instead. The operator deals with it, so it is not part of your planning.

Can supporters travel in a separate vehicle?

Yes. Many clubs put the team in one minibus and fans in a coach or a second minibus, with different times home after the final whistle.

Is everyone belted in on the road?

Yes. Where belts are fitted, everyone wears them while the vehicle is moving, trainers and substitutes included.
