Geneva Airport minibus pickups: P6, ski Saturdays and the lake road
At Geneva every professional pickup happens in one place: the P6 coach station on the Arrivals level. That makes meeting a small group straightforward, as long as everyone knows to follow the signs rather than wait by the front doors.
Follow the signs to P6
From the Arrivals hall, follow the 'Coach Station' signs to P6 – Gare Routière, right beside the terminal. P6 admits coaches, and minibuses and shuttles above nine seats too. Collecting passengers in the Kiss & Fly drop-off area is not allowed, so don't arrange to be met there.
A car for up to eight people is too small for P6. It uses the area reserved for cars with driver instead. If your party is split between a car and a minibus, agree two meeting points.

Ski weekends need a plan
From December to April, weekends are busy. A minibus without an airport access card cannot get into P6 on those days and is sent to car park P33 or P4 instead. The airport can also add overflow space, or let vehicles in only once the flight has actually landed. Ask the operator where your driver will be on a February weekend.
Terminal 2 opens only at weekends in the ski season, about 300 m on foot from Terminal 1. Look at the terminal on your booking before you fix the meeting point. Inside P6, engines go off for any stop longer than three minutes, so have everyone gathered before the driver pulls in.
Arrival areas at a glance
- France Sector (check-in for flights to France; reached by road only through the customs road from Ferney-Voltaire, on the French side)
- Terminal 2 (seasonal: open only at weekends in the winter season, for charter and scheduled flights linked to the ski season; about 300 m on foot from Terminal 1, opposite car park P51)
- Terminal 1 (main terminal: Check-in level above, Arrivals level below, railway station directly beneath)
Good to know: Geneva Airport
- Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France, cross-border) is about 87 km by road, about 1 h 30 min by coach in light traffic.
- Täsch (Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, where coaches stop for car-free Zermatt) is about 229 km by road, about 3 h 30 min by coach in light traffic.
- Verbier is about 161 km by road via Martigny, about 2 h 30 min by coach in light traffic.
- Gstaad is about 149 km by road via Aigle and the Col des Mosses road, about 2 h 30 min by coach in light traffic.
- Montreux (Place du Marché) is about 92 km by road, about 1 h 15 min by coach in light traffic.
- Lausanne (Place de la Palud) is about 61 km by road, about 55 min by coach in light traffic.
- Only passengers with a valid ticket for the same day (plus or minus one day) may pass on foot between the France Sector and the international (Swiss) sector; vehicles reach the France Sector only by the customs road from Ferney-Voltaire.
- Terminal 2 opens only on winter weekends, so check the arrival terminal on the booking. tpg lines 10, 23, 28, 56 and 57 stop at 'Tour-de-Contrôle', near Terminal 2.
- Geneva public buses (tpg) stop on the Check-in level, in front of or next to the railway station. Regional coaches, including lines to ski resorts and to French cities, leave from the coach station on the Arrivals level.
- The railway station Genève-Aéroport is directly beneath the terminal, about a 5-minute walk from the Departures and Arrivals levels. Trains reach Genève Cornavin in about 7 minutes, up to seven an hour at peak times. Direct trains run to Lausanne (about 50 min), Montreux (about 1 h 15 min), Martigny (about 1 h 50 min, for Verbier), Visp (about 2 h 30 min, for Zermatt), Brig, Sion, Fribourg, Bern, Neuchâtel, Biel, Luzern and Zürich.
Lake Geneva on day one
The Pont du Mont-Blanc, in the centre of Geneva, is about 5 km away, around 15 minutes. Lausanne is about 61 km, just under an hour, and Montreux about 92 km, around 1 h 15 min. Measured from the city, the Lavaux vineyards at Cully are about 77 km and Château de Chillon about 96 km, so a slow afternoon by the shore fits around a morning landing.
Gruyères, for cheese and chocolate, is about 120 km from the city.
Up into the Alps
Verbier is about 161 km by Martigny, around 2 h 30 min. Gstaad is about 149 km by Aigle and the Col des Mosses road. Zermatt is car-free: the minibus stops at the Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch, about 229 km away, and the shuttle train takes you up. Chamonix, over the border in France, is about 87 km.
Questions travellers ask
Is there a train from the airport?
Genève-Aéroport station is directly beneath the terminal. Trains reach Genève Cornavin in about 7 minutes and run straight on to Lausanne and Montreux. Some groups take the train into town and keep the minibus for days out.
What is the France Sector?
A separate check-in area for flights to France, reached by road only through Ferney-Voltaire. Most flights use the main terminal; check your ticket, because a vehicle cannot simply cross from one sector to the other.
What if our flight lands late?
The stay in P6 is charged in 15-minute blocks, so drivers time their entry to the landing. For a long delay, the operator decides where the minibus waits and keeps in touch with your group leader.
